Hello! There are definitely some good products for prevention at the drugstore. The key to finding a good moisturizer or serum at a lower price is to pay attention to the ingredients the products contain! Generally, drugstore-brand products contain a lower concentration of these important, active ingredients, making them less effective than the more expensive products that contain higher levels of ingredients. So while you’re shopping, take a glance at that ingredients list (have your smartphone handy to google ingredient names). The higher an ingredient is on the list, the more potent it will be, and the more effective.
One of my favorite ingredients to recommend for fine lines and wrinkles, specifically, are peptides! Peptides help to plump up and smooth out skin that has started to collapse into wrinkles. While things like retinol and hyaluronic acid focus more on collagen production and hydration, peptides specifically address lines and skin’s firmness. Peptides are more effective when combined with an ingredient like the two I mentioned above.
Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum - $20
This is a lightweight, fragrance-free serum that instantly softens the skin, and contains peptides as well as hyaluronic acid for hydration. Serums are more liquidy than a cream, which is great for people with oily skin, but ideally you would layer a serum underneath a thicker moisturizer. The moisturizer will add ingredients and hydration, and will lock in the benefits of your moisturizer.
I also really like the L’Oreal Dermo Expertise Revitalift Night Cream ($18), & Garnier UltraLift 2-in-1 Wrinkle Reducer ($17). All of these items are available at most drugstores and on drugstore.com!
All in all though, I have to really urge you to invest in your skin care. Save on everything else, but the things that you put close to your skin are really important. You want them to work, and to be the best quality. Your skin is the largest organ in your body, so it’s really important to take care of it! And you’re really never too young to start a skincare routine.
Hello! Oh, I’ve got an answer, haha!
The first product I’ll recommend is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Hypercolor Powder in “In the Pink”. This is a super-pigmented hair chalk, eyeshadow, and brow paint all in one.
You can get these online or at Ulta! I like them because they really don’t need a base to show up well. Just set them with a bit of brow gel and you’re good to go!
If you want to go a different road, just get a nice pink eyeshadow in the shade that you like, and use a white cream base, like the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, underneath. The white base will hold the eyeshadow color in place and make it look more intense.
Good luck!! :)
